2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 114 - 6-30-2014

Stopped at my Grandma's for a few minutes after going out for wings with some friends.  Took a quick photo of her Daisies before I jumped in my car and headed on down the road for home.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 113 - 6-29-2014

Finished putting new fascia and soffit on the house and decided to take a cruise to Nebraska Bridge with the camera. Saw a few posting photos of it completely underwater a few days ago. Found no such luck, but you could definitely see where the water had been (the brown foliage along the edge). There was a guy kayaking there and he said that a few days ago, he kayaked over the bridge. Pretty cool.

One of my favorite photos from my 365 Photo Project from last year was taken at this spot.  It is below.  It gives you a better idea of how much water is in that area right now.  The road has 13 foot 3 inch clearance and currently, the water is above the sign stating that.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 112 - 6-28-2014

Went to my Grandma's for most of the day after my Dad and I took a huge load of scrap to Triple S and replaced some of the fascia on my house. Knew as soon as I pulled in what my subject for my photo of the day would be. It was just a matter of waiting for the right light. I am learning that orange and yellow flowers are very difficult to photograph at almost anytime that the sun is beaming down on a sunny day. I love the way that the colors saturated on this one straight out of the camera. Didn't touch them in post processing. Think I've got my picture style nailed down.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 111 - 6-27-2014

Trees full of foliage catching the last light of the evening. Beautiful part of Summer.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 110 - 6-26-2014

Two good friends who helped with the entire roofing project.  Putting the final piece on at almost 11:00 at night after working on it 2 full days and 2 evenings.

Thanks a ton guys.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 109 - 6-25-2014

Decided to head into the back yard and get one last shot of the last of the blooms on the Multi-floral Rose as they are dying in the back yard.  Tomorrow.... they'll be gone.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 108 - 6-24-2014

Took my lunch under the bridge in Oil City today.  While I was listening to the radio in my car, this guy swooped in to do a little fishing.

He actually caught a fish after I had already put the camera away.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 107 - 6-23-2014

Been working on putting a new roof on my house since Saturday. We worked on it all day Saturday, from Noon till 9 on Sunday and now 3 1/2 hours tonight. Taking a break for a day or two and will finish it up in one more evening..... hopefully. Looks like it holds water pretty well.

Went with a metal roof because metal production is what pays my salary.  Very likely that this metal passed through a mold made by and / or serviced by my employer.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 106 - 6-22-2014

We continued to work on the roof today and during one of our breaks, one of the guys said that the Robins in the tree in our back yard had hatched.  I took the camera up to snap a picture.

Happy Birthday little bird.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 105 - 6-21-2014

Spent most of the day putting a new roof on my house.  On one of the breaks we took, I saw this cool little guy also taking a break and grabbed my camera to get a shot before getting back to work.

I really like the mashup of colors in this shot.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 104 - 6-20-2014

This is the daily project version of "taking a pass".  This is all I got today.  Spent all the lit hours I wasn't working, working on prep work for my roofing project tomorrow.  This is the big old maple tree on the edge of my yard.  It's the biggest of a row of about 30 of them that line the  one edge of the yard.

I promise to try to do better tomorrow.... try.... it will probably be something to do with roofing. :)

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 102 - 6-18-2014

Walked the perimeter of the yard this evening and came across this little bird squawking like crazy in the woods behind my house.  Not sure what it is, but it sure made a racket.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 101 - 6-17-2014

Had to get a shot of the last blooming Japanese Iris in our yard.  Their blooms do not last long at all.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 100 - 6-16-2014

Was drawn to the Multifloral Rose on the edge of the yard again today.  It has hundreds of these little flowers on it right now.

Maybe I won't destroy it.  We'll see if it spreads too far next year.  Might transplant it somewhere else maybe.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 99 - 6-15-2014

This photo just screams Summer to me for some reason.  This is a shot of my Grandma's Clematis with the United States flag in the back ground.

Really pretty plant.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 98 - 6-14-2014

This is a plant that has appeared in the woods along the edge of my property.  I was told tonight that it is called Multifloral Rose.  Very pretty, little flowers, but apparently it will take over an area quickly with it's vines.  It was suggested that I get rid of it as soon as possible.  Have to get a photo first though.

One of the prettier invasive species I've seen.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 92 - 6-08-2014

Really frustrated with blogspot.  I swear that I posted my picture of the day yesterday, but it never posted.  This is the second time that this has happened.  Oh well, can't complain too much because it is free.

My sister Katie visited us yesterday and she has been wanting me to take some photos of her hooping.  Caught a good photo of her in midair after she had just jumped through a hoop.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 97 - 6-13-2014

More a shot of curiosity than artistic expression. There are many small trees along the one side of my yard. All of this type have this strange growth on most of their leaves. Some of them, the growth has completely consumed the leaf that they are on. Anyone know what this is?  Contact me if you do, because I am very curious.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 96 - 6-12-2014

Got home from teaching a geocaching class at the Marienville Library this evening and decided to try to get a photo of the little Robins outside my front door. Didn't have the heart to scare mommy away just so I could get a photo. You can see of the little one's beaks in front of her.

Maybe tomorrow I'll find them without her in the nest.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 95 - 6-11-2014

Lamest photo of the day of my project this year. A thunderstorm killed my original plan for today's photo, so I snapped this photo as I was driving through it.

Moral of the story is.... don't wait till the end of the day to get your photo of the day.

See you tomorrow.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 94 - 6-10-2014

An upclose shot of one of the Japanese Iris's blooming on the edge of our yard.  They sure are pretty.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 93 - 6-09-2014

Took this quick photo when I got home of the newborn Robins outside our front door. Had to be quick so as to not disturb them too much or freak the mother out. They are nothing more than feathers and beaks right now. The only movement they make is from their breathing. Maybe another shot in a few days when they are more active.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 91 - 6-07-2014

Went on the National Trails Day hike on the North Country National Scenic Trail through Cook Forest State Park today.  Was only able to hike to the waterfall across from Hemlock Island and back though due to time constraints.  Did take some photos while there.  This one turned out good.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 90 - 6-06-2014

Decided to play around with the multiple exposure feature on my Canon 70D this evening since I really haven't yet and felt otherwise uninspired.

My wife should be careful in the back yard.... you never know what might be lurking around back there... like Devin in triplicate.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 89 - 6-05-2014

Had to get another shot of the Rhododendron's before the blooms disappear.  Probably be gone by the end of the weekend I'd guess.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 88 - 6-04-2014

Last year, our weeping Cherry Tree had literally thousands of blooms on it.  It was magnificent.  I had a blast with photographing it, and looked forward to it springing to life again this year.  However, on one of the many -20 degree nights that we had this past winter, a huge crack developed that runs the entire length of the tree.  The leaves have been very slow to come on this year and there are only a few dozen blooms on it.  I found one to take a photo of.  Hopefully it is in a recovery year and bounces back.  Really like that tree.

Here is a picture to give you an idea of just how much damage that one really cold night did to this little tree.

I really hope it recovers, but I'm not too hopeful.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 87 - 6-03-2014

I hosted a geocaching event at the Toby Hill bar in Clarion this evening.  Afterwards, a few of us went to find a geocache before heading home.  Decided to play around with the Paper Camera app on my phone while the rest of the crew was signing the log book.  Good times.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 86 - 6-02-2014

Looked up through the back yard a little while ago and noticed butterflies attacking the Rhododendrons. Went up to take photos and caught this one of a small bee attacking one of the butterflies. It drove the butterfly off right after this shot.

Too bad that the Rhododendron blooms are so short lived.  I really enjoy them and so do the butterflies and bees.

2014 Daily Photo Project - Day 85 - 6-01-2014

My Grandma had her sisters and any family members that wanted to come over for a party at her house this afternoon.  They posed for some pictures.  This isn't the photo that I thought would turn out the best, but it was.

After this picture, I took a few of some of the Rhododendrons.  Went a little crazy in the post processing on this one.  I like it.
