Memories

This morning, I got up and headed for an area that I have spent much time at throughout my life.  In high school, my friends and I would go out here to hang out.  In recent years, the few times that I was able to talk my wife and son into going camping, we would go here to camp at the primitive campground.

A few years ago... the Allegheny National Forest.... in their infinite wisdom?.... decided to shut down the primitive Beaver Meadows Campground.  Why, I am not sure.  Upkeep on a campground that is just places to pitch a tent would seem to be just about nothing.  Oh well, that's our government.

I was saddened when I began to walk into the gated road into a campground that holds so many memories for me.  I didn't make it past the first site where I took this picture of the speed limit sign and trees fallen down on the road in front of campsite #1.

Lickingville Church Steeple

I took a color photo of this falling down steeple during my daily photo project this year.  That was back in March.  Since then, this church steeple is no more.  Several things that I photographed this year have strangely disappeared shortly after I photographed them. Hmmmm..... starting to regret the couple of self-portraits that I did.  Anyways... I changed it to black and white and I really like it.

Polaroid Picture

Played around with my macro filters again tonight.  It should have been obvious to me when I opened them up and saw that they were curved, in both directions, that these little pieces of glass were going to be capable of some funky stuff.

This is a photo of the case that came with them.

The jury is very much out on whether or not these are capable of true macro work... but that's where the fun comes in..... the little accidents trying to find out.

Azalea at Night

In my search for better and better macro ability, I ordered a cheap set of macro filters.  I have tried the extension tubes.... eh.  I have tried an adapter allowing me to reverse a lens... a little better, but ho hum.  I will need a few days to play with these filters cause they are proving to be a good bit of work also.  I also ordered a cheap macro ring light for attaching to the end of my lens.  They both got here after dark, so I put a filter on, put batteries in the light and headed outside... you know... since I did have a light on the end of my camera.  Wandered around the house to one of my azelea bushes.  During a series of shots I zoomed out to 18mm and the ring light showed up in the shot.  I decided I liked it in this case.  A little different, but this is what I got.  A black and white again.

Old Hardware Sign

I participated in a photo walk around downtown Brookville, PA last month with a group of local photographers.  It was a lot of fun.  It was my first time hanging out with a group of other photographers, and I enjoyed it.  We were granted access to a gated vacant lot adjacent to an antiques store.  This lot had a lot of interesting artifacts of times gone by in it.

This sign caught my attention.

First Snowfall of the Season

Just had to grab this shot this morning of the first snowfall of the year. My niece was staying with us this weekend and every time I held her, looking out the windows of our living room, both of us would stare at this tree cause it is so brightly colored. Woke up this morning to find it with a thin coating of snow.

REMEMBER... I HAVE A NEW WEBSITE AT www.callihanimages.com

I soon will not be posting here. Thank you.
